James A. Garfield: Conditions Of Current Facilities |
|
- The Current Track and Field facility cannot be utilized
for sports events. It does not meet current high school standards for the
state of Ohio. This facility needs resurfacing of the track, a grass
infield, bleachers, fencing, lighting and some type of restroom/concessions
option. These could also be utilized by the baseball and softball fields.
The current football field is utilized for youth, 7th & 8th grade, JV &
Varsity Football programs, both boys and girls soccer and band practice.
This is a great deal of activity for one field.
The grass infield on the
track could be utilized for some of these activities. The home football
stands are also too close to the football field, exposing our athletes to
the concrete pillars underneath (only about 10 feet off of the field). We
would like to eliminate this hazard, build new home bleachers on the
opposite side of the field, to include a press box, construct a new entrance
featuring our “G” Brick Walkway and build a field house that has indoor,
handicap accessible restrooms and concessions. The field house could also
be utilized by, but not limited to, other indoor sports programs such as
wrestling.
